Superstition Mountain Golf & Country Club is a private community of about 880 to 930 acres in Gold Canyon, ZIP 85118, in unincorporated Pinal County. It is built around two Jack Nicklaus-designed 18-hole courses, Lost Gold and Prospector, and a clubhouse of about 50,000 square feet. You reach it by Superstition Mountain Dr, north of US 60. Homes sit in village-style neighborhoods such as Prospector Village, Club Village, Canyon View Estates and Petroglyph Estates, plus custom home sites. Many are large, over 3,000 square feet, and some have a casita or guest house.
That changes how a leak plays out. A bigger home may have more than one water heater, or a tankless unit, or a hot water recirculation setup, so check yours before you call. Many owners live here only part of the year. Our Gold Canyon leak repair page covers the wider area, and we come out from our home base in Apache Junction.
Leaks We Expect at Superstition Mountain
These are common for large custom homes with more than one heater and owners who come and go. Your setup may be different.
A casita heater nobody checks
A casita may have its own small heater or share the main one, so check yours. If it has its own, it may only be used a few weeks a year. A drip there can run for a long time because nobody goes in. Water may show up as a stain on a wall, a swollen cabinet base or a damp spot outside. If you suspect a hidden drip but can't find it, our leak detection service helps track it down.
Heaters inside the living space
In some custom homes the heater sits in an interior utility room or closet, not the garage. A leak there reaches flooring, drywall and cabinets fast. A pan with a drain line helps, and a leak sensor with a motorized valve can close the supply when water hits the floor. See how an automatic shut-off valve works and what it can't do.
Tankless units and more than one heater
Some large homes use a tankless heater, or two heaters on different ends of the house. A tankless unit can drip at its service valves or relief valve, and hard water adds scale. Note the brand, the location and any error code before you call. Our tankless leak and repair page explains the usual faults.
Leaks while the owners are away
With many part-time residents, a leak may start in July and be found in October. A house watcher or neighbor who knows where the shut-off valves are can save a lot of damage. Before you leave, a seasonal close-up visit can shut the heater down the right way and look for early signs of trouble.

Gate Access, Water Service and Pinal County Permits
Getting us through the guard gate
When you call, give us your village or street, and the address. Then let the guard gate or your HOA know a water heater visit is coming, and pass on the tech's name when we give it to you. If you're away, tell us who can meet us or how we get into the house, and whether the casita has its own key.
Who supplies your water
Property listings show that many lots here are served by a private water company and private sewer. So don't assume your water matches the town-wide figures. Ask your water provider for its water quality report to see how hard your water is, which tells you how often a flush or anode check makes sense.
Permits and HOA rules
Gold Canyon is unincorporated, so permits come from Pinal County Development Services, not the City of Apache Junction. A valve or fitting repair is just a repair. A replacement that goes bigger, switches fuel, moves the heater or converts to tankless may need a permit, so confirm with the county for your address. Rules can change, so treat this as a starting point, not legal advice. Your HOA may also have rules for outside work, such as new vents or outdoor units. Ask us about permit requirements when you call.
What Does Water Heater Leak Repair in Superstition Mountain Cost?
Which heater is leaking, and why, decides the cost. A worn valve or loose connector is far cheaper than a new heater. Angi's Apache Junction average for water heater repairs of every kind is about $646, typically $422 to $1,196. Replacing a tankless unit is a bigger step, with Phoenix-area averages of $3,000 to $4,200. Those are general numbers for the area; you get a specific price from us before we begin. More detail is in our repair cost guide and replacement price guide.
Water Heater Leak Repair Superstition Mountain: FAQs
Our Superstition Mountain home has a casita. Does it have its own water heater?
A casita may have its own heater, often a smaller tank or compact unit in a closet, or it may share the main home's heater, so check yours. Walk through and look for a heater, its cold-water valve and its breaker or gas valve. Knowing where every heater is helps you shut off the right one fast.
Our Superstition Mountain home has a hot water recirculation pump. Can that be where the leak is?
It can. A recirculation setup adds a pump, a check valve and extra fittings near the heater, and any of those can drip. Look at the pump body and the joints on either side of it. If water is coming from there, unplug the pump or switch it off, close the heater's cold valve, and note where the drip is when you call.
We only spend winters at the club. Should we turn the water heater off when we leave?
Many part-time owners do. Turning the heater to vacation or off and closing its cold-water valve limits how much water a leak can release. Some also add a leak sensor and automatic valve. Have someone check the house now and then, and restart the heater carefully when you return.
Is the water at Superstition Mountain as hard as in Apache Junction?
Not necessarily. Listings show many lots here on a private water company, so your water may differ from the town figures. Ask your provider for its latest water quality report. If hardness is high, a yearly flush on tanks and descaling on tankless units helps prevent leaks.
